Hudson Highlands
Last weekend, I went on a hike with my friend, Yoon. We went up to the Hudson Highlands. It was cold and the wind blew at and around us as we climbed. We stopped many times along the way, to catch our breath and to sit in the silence of these ancient woods. Now and then, the trees creaked when moved by wind, as if speaking. I felt the ancientness of this place, as I climbed over rocks and roots and moss. Journeys to the forest and mountains always feel very cathartic to me. As if going through them, I am letting something go that is of no use to me anymore. And to come into contact with intimacy, something I fear. I can't help but think of Lord of the Rings and Jung.
These are 3 paintings I did inspired by this hike.
